Are you interested in being a part of a culturally diverse community organisation? Are you able to spare some time to volunteer, supporting older people to remain social active?
At ACCS, we empower people in their cultural and lifestyle choices through a range of community and homecare services across Melbourne.
We are always looking for new volunteers and we do require that people speak or are familiar with Croatian language and culture.

We have volunteer opportunities as:

  • Community Companions providing transport assistance for older people to attend a Social Support Group. Our Volunteer drivers are always in demand, especially in the local government areas of: Maribyrnong, Brimbank, Moonee Valley, Hume, Moreland, Darebin, Whittlesea, Greater Dandenong, Casey, Frankston and Cardinia.
  • Social Support Group Assistants to assist with activities and outings as part of the Social Support Groups.
  • Friendly Visitors who visit a person in their own home for socialisation and in some instances to help them to access the community, i.e. taking them to church or out for a coffee.
  • Visitors to Residential Aged Care facilities, as part of the Community Visitor Scheme, where a volunteer will visit several people living in residential care.

What we offer:

We invite you to meet with our Volunteer Coordinators who will provide you with comprehensive information and support to guide you in your volunteering role.
We will provide financial reimbursements if you provide transport assistance to agreed venues using your own vehicle.
We accept jobseekers 55+ years of age who are looking for work and are eligible under Centrelink to undertake voluntary work as part of Mutual Obligation.

Volunteer requirements

  • All volunteers are required to have a police check and the organisation will cover the cost of this.
  • Volunteer Drivers are required to have a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
  • We do require volunteers familiar with Croatian language and culture.
